The Farmers Lives Matter Movement (FLMM) has called for the removal of Nigeria’s federal and state Ministers of Agriculture, citing concerns over worsening insecurity, displacement of farmers, and ineffective policies affecting the agricultural sector.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Founder of FLMM, Farmer Fayemi Emmanuel Abiodun through the Media Head of the organization Farmer Ibrahim Abubakar Jimeta expressed deep concerns over the state of Nigerian farmers. He highlighted the escalating insecurity that has led to displacement, loss of lives, and destruction of investments worth millions of naira.
The group also marked Mother’s Day with heartfelt appreciation for the sacrifices and dedication of mothers, particularly those within their movement. FLMM extended warm greetings to Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr, congratulating them on completing Ramadan and praying for peace and blessings.
Additionally, FLMM sent birthday wishes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his 73rd birthday, praying for wisdom and strength as he leads the nation.

Call for Urgent Action in Agriculture Sector
While celebrating these occasions, FLMM did not shy away from addressing pressing national issues. The group expressed deep concerns over the state of Nigerian farmers, highlighting the escalating insecurity that has led to displacement, loss of lives, and destruction of investments worth millions of naira.
According to FLMM, farmers across the country face continuous threats from banditry, herdsmen attacks, and insurgency, forcing many to abandon their lands and seek refuge in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. The organization criticized government policies that have failed to protect farmers and ensure food security, exacerbating Nigeria’s current economic hardship.
Demand for Ministerial Reshuffle
FLMM specifically called for the removal and replacement of both the Federal and State Ministers of Agriculture, accusing them of inefficiency and lack of impact. The organization also urged a restructuring of agricultural agencies and institutions, emphasizing that agriculture is vital to Nigeria’s economy and must not be mismanaged.
The statement urged President Tinubu’s administration to:
Reform the security architecture to protect farmers and their investments.
Expose and eliminate corrupt elements within the armed forces allegedly contributing to insecurity.
Ensure government policies favor all farmers, from peasant farmers to large-scale investors.
FLMM warned that the failure to address these issues would continue to fuel hunger, economic hardship, and instability in the country.
Commitment to Advocacy
The movement reaffirmed its commitment to being the voice of Nigerian farmers and agricultural practitioners, vowing to keep advocating for policies that support investment, productivity, and security in the sector.
“Agriculture is everything in this country, and we cannot afford to joke with it,” FLMM stated.
